Lesson Plan 2 Discussion

Hey ladies, here is the blog post to discuss the second lesson plan we need to do that is due Sunday. For this lesson plan we have to include data collection for a specific concept from our concept map. Just like the first, each of us have to use a different concept from our map. If it is okay with you ladies, I was thinking about doing the concept of tools as mine. So I will have a data collection sheet and students will be able to collect data on the types of tools they have seen before or used before. Let me know what you guys think! Thanks! Brianna Huffman

Podcast

Hi Ladies!

Since we have to post weekly I decided to make a new post for the links for our individual podcasts. I figured someone could just save the podcasts from their email and combine them all to send in by Sunday. Hope all is going well! :)

Collaborative Podcast

Hey group, I thought I would get a jump start on the next project. We need to do this collaborative podcast using Audacity. According to the directions we each need to talk about something different so I thought we could decide that early. She gave examples, such as someone can talk about why we chose to use project based learning, another can talk about why we have done so far and another can talk about what we plan to do from here, or what the overall project will be. What are you guys thinking about? I wouldn't mind talking about why we chose project based learning or what we have done so far. Just let me know! Thanks, Brianna

Lesson Plan Discussion

Hey ladies, I thought I would open up a discussion about what type of lesson you want to do. According to this weeks requirements we can't have the same lesson for our student, they have to be researching something different. So what are your thoughts? Looking at our concept map, our students can research... Designs Materials Tools Open House: advertisements and invitations Vocabulary and Building If you guys don't mind I will make my lesson plan about researching advertisements for our open house. Please let me know what you guys plan to do! Brianna Huffman

Virtual Penpals and Google Maps

Part A:

https://docs.google.com/document/d/19e_vc5bpT5f2c6XsELbZijSOD7S8xEE8TwCu9OHSGEw/edit?usp=sharing

Part B:

The students will use this map to explore different building structures in Indonesia. They can choose one or two of the marked place on the map and discuss with their penpals. If their penpals have seen or been inside any of the buildings, they can describe them. Students can also use google earth to view these buildings on their own.

Map

So, I was thinking since we are using Indonesia for part A, maybe we could use the capital of Indonesia, Jakarta for part B. It looks like it is a pretty big city. It could be beneficial for the penpals to talk about not only the houses, but also the other building structures in the city. We might not want such a huge map for 1st graders, so maybe if we picked a block or two in Jakarta? Let me know what you ladies think of that?

Evaluation of Websites

We need to figure out what types of websites we will need for our project. Here are some ideas:

  • Research on different clubhouse designs
  • Search for a site where the students can create their own blueprints
  • Tool identification-maybe something that has a picture by the word
  • Safety articles
Am I on the right track? Obviously some of the sites we find will not be appropriate for first grade. Can we still use these sites that do not work in out web evaluation assignment?
